HIV-positive patients with acute hepatitis C are less likely to clear HCV spontaneously. nce chronic HCV is established these individuals have poorer treatment outcomes and higher risk of liver disease progression compared with individuals who are only infected with HCV. These patients were HCV antibody positive within 6 months of being recruited and had either a negative HCV antibody test with 2 years of being tested positive or an episode of hepatitis. Baseline risk factors for acquiring HCV included known HCV-positive status of partner for six patients unknown partner status for five patients and injecting drug use in seven patients.

Some wonder whether adding cell phones to phone surveys will be successful. Jon Foley 25 has lived without a landline for three years. A clinical research coordinator he typifies the younger cell phone-only demographic that poll takers are trying to reach. “Just answering the phone I think will be the biggest problem” he said.
