First ISCR annual conference on clinical research

expresspharmaonline. The conference will have a one day pre-conference workshop on January 13 which will discuss a detailed presentation on India US and EU CT regulatory environment. The main two-day conference will take place from January 14 to 15 2008. The objective of the convention is to provide a forum for professional development of participants and contribute to raising the bar for clinical research. The convention will also provide an opportunity for networking and shaping the policy environment in the country.

The award recipient receives a Tiffany crystal sculpture and a $500 award. [Top]Practitioner Research AwardThe recipient of this award is selected annually by the Council on Research in recognition of clinical research in veterinary science by private practice veterinarians. It is presented to a member of the Association who contributed the major portion to a research project or projects and published the results while engaged in full-time private veterinary practice. A Tiffany crystal sculpture signifies the award along with $500. [Top]Public Service AwardThe Public Service Award was proposed by the Council on Public Health and Regulatory Veterinary Medicine to recognize an AVMA member for long terms of outstanding public service or unusual contributions to the practice or science of public health and regulatory veterinary medicine. The recipient is presented with a Tiffany crystal sculpture and a $500 award.

Drug discovery and development of innovative therapeutics

Even top academic institutions of the West are increasingly looking forward for tie-ups with Indian counterparts to leverage cost savings gain access to India’s diverse patient population and talent pool. Mark Caulfield Director and Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at William Harvey Research Institute UK said "Strong commitment to pharmacology R&D and high fidelity patient characteristics in clinical research is what makes a tie-up with Indian partners all the more important. " William Harvey Research Institute and Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences collaborated for clinical research and also to offer postgraduate course in drug development. Similarly another academic collaboration is INDX-(India-xford) Cancer Clinical Trials Network. Vinod Raina Professor Medical ncology All India Institute of Medical Sciences said "The INDX Cancer Clinical Trials Network is a novel collaboration between xford University and six large regional cancer centres in India. These centres cover over 80 percent of academic oncology in India.
