Few Studies Consider The Appropriate Measurements For Assessing…
Science Daily – Science Daily (press release) – Apr 28, 2008
" These are measurements chosen in advance of the trial to ensure that as much information as possible is provided about the drug’s safety effectiveness and its impact on the patients’ health and daily life. Children’s bodies handle certain drugs very differently to adults — it can’t just be assumed that drugs effective in adults simply need to be scaled down to work for children — and so paediatric clinical trials need to be designed with these differences in mind. By using a search strategy and consulting experts in paediatric clinical research the researchers identified all the studies since 1950 that have examined the selection of outcomes in clinical trials conducted in children. Their initial search was very wide to minimize bias leading to the retrieval of 9000 abstracts. nly twenty-five articles met the criteria established by the review and examined the selection of outcomes in clinical research in children. These studies came from thirteen groups researching different conditions — including asthma Crohn’s disease and cystic fibrosis — but for many paediatric areas there has been no work done into the selection of appropriate outcomes for clinical trials in children. Reaching agreement on standard outcomes for clinical trials in children is important because it enables researchers and clinicians to compare and combine the results of clinical trials.

29 2008 A West Bend company that runs clinical trials for new drugs has bought the former campus of St. Joseph’s Community Hospital in West Bend. Spaulding Clinical Research did not disclose the price it paid for the campus on Silverbrook Drive. The company is a full-service facility for testing drugs in Phase 1 clinical trials according to its Web site. To get Food and Drug Administration approval drugs must go through four phases of clinical trials. The first phase tests whether the drug is safe for humans. “The pharmaceutical testing world is badly in need of a drug-testing lab that specializes in cardiac technology” Chief Executive fficer Randy Spaulding says in a news release announcing the purchase.

org Confused I am an intern in a dental college. I am confused about my options. Should I take up Clinical Research (General) or pursue MDS? Vijay J. via Email MysoreIf you are interested in Clinical Research make an effort to understand the nuances involved in the study of the discipline. Since you have already spent a major part of your academic career in the field of Dentistry it is better to stick to the core area and complete the Post-Graduate programme. There are lots of benefits sticking to the core area rather than seeking changes at this crucial juncture. Lab technology I have completed DMLT and I want to pursue B.

Schwartzberg said her team will continue to investigate thebiological mechanisms underpinning the ITK-HIV relationship. In themeantime she is optimistic that the drug industry will take up thegauntlet in terms of clinical research. "We hope that one of these companies that have developedITK inhibitors will try and pursue this — that would bewonderful" Schwartzberg said.
Searching for Science to Guide Good Teaching
Washington Post – Apr 28, 2008
Searching for Science to Guide Good Teaching. Just as doctors consider data from drug trials and clinical research when they treat patients he wants educators to think more.
