According to Coffman he was lucky the end guy in a chain of coincidences. After five years the drug company happened to be ready to test the drug. The company picked Scottsdale Healthcare as the first clinical site.

Addressing the concluding session of the day-long seminar on Clinical Research Management in Pakistan here on Saturday night she said a task force has been constituted to form the policy and it would be notified in a few days. The objective is mainly to mitigate the plight of a large section of people deprived of even basic healthcare facilities. This task force would be required to start planning by May and move forward with an integrated approach to build on past successes and also providing health cover for an increasingly impoverished public health sector. “I am looking for better planning and a coherent health policy that would integrate all sectors and enhance capacities in all healthcare spheres” she said. The government instead of sporadic interventions would ensure integrated goals supported by higher resources better planning and a serious investment in research and development.

NSABP and CIRG initiate enrollment in Phase III breast cancer study

BETH was developed through the collaborative efforts of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) and Cancer International Research Group (CIRG). The study will be led by the two groups and will recruit approximately 3500 patients. The primary outcome measure of BETH will be invasive disease-free survival.
