Groundbreaking held for new Pennington research center

Governor Bobby Jindal along with state legislators approved the funding last year. Wednesday they broke ground on the new clinical research building that will use about half of the $50 million allotment. It will be a 90000-square foot facility to expand clinical trials so that researchers can get more grants and answer more scientific questions. The expansion comes as Governor Jindal warns of serious higher education cuts on the horizon. “No I don't think this will be the last investment of its kind” he said. “We're going to have to continue to move the state forward and we'll do that.
