Mark Montigny regarding clinical research trials in Massachusetts (”Montigny unhappy with draft pharmaceutical gift ban” Dec. 11) maybe he and Gov. Deval Patrick should look elsewhere to impose new regulations (Section 14 Chapter 111N of S2863). I have worked in clinical research for the last 10 years and this regulation can cause pharmaceutical companies to eliminate our site (and many in Boston) from participating in clinical trials. The state of Massachusetts (particularly the northeast area) has some of the best clinical research centers and does a tremendous amount of clinical studies with all types of diseases such as cancer asthma allergies migraines obesity arthritis (osteo and rheumatoid) women’s health gastrointestinal disorders and many many more diseases that need the help of new medication to control or eliminate the disease.
